Thank you Thank you Thank you. Seriously. As a result of your support and calls and signatures and presence at meetings the CRMC took action last night a granted a permit for the restoration of Mary Carpenter’s historic sea wall!
The wall served its purpose for decades- protecting Matunuck- until it fell into disrepair. Kevin Finnegan, the owner of the Ocean Mist and self-described “caretaker” will pay for the wall restoration. It took a couple of years, and the activism of thousands of people intent on protecting a community that draws hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists to its shore, and there is more to be done- but for now, a critical piece of Matunuck will be restored.
This would not have happened without the grassroots support that YOU helped build. So quietly congratulate yourself for taking action, and the next time you drive down Matunuck Beach road, roll down the window and point to the wall and tell everyone in the car that a piece of it belongs to you.
Stay tuned. We aren’t done!
